NADIA PETROVA PROUD TO CALL SOUTH FLORIDA HOME

March 14, 2011 – MIAMI – Her profession may take her half way around the world and back, but when top-ranked WTA star Nadia Petrova finally comes home, it’s here in sunny South Florida where she now hangs her visor. Born in Moscow, but spending a large portion of her life learning the game and training in Egypt, the 28-year-old Petrova recently made the move to the Miami area, where she currently trains at Midtown Athletic Club in Weston.

“I feel very much at home here and am happy to be part of the South Florida tennis community. Miami is great for tennis and is very conducive because of the weather,” said Nadia, who laughed “and it’s always nice to be near the beach.”

When she’s home, Petrova is active with the junior tennis program at Midtown, often hosting clinics for a junior tennis program which boasts more than 400 participants.  “I think it’s really important to give kids an opportunity to connect with a professional not only to give them tips on how to improve, but also to encourage them to stick with the game,” she says.  “It’s my hope tennis can provide kids the same opportunity the game has provided me over the years.”
