NADIA PETROVA AND MARIA KIRILENKO WILL TEAM UP IN DOUBLES FOR THE 2012 WTA SEASON

January 11, 2012 – MIAMI – Nadia Petrova and Maria Kirilenko will team up in doubles for the 2012 WTA season with the aim to compete at the 2012 Olympics and WTA Championships together. Although the duo has only played six events together prior to the 2012 season, they have enjoyed doubles success together and individually throughout their careers.

The Kirilenko/Petrova partnership won titles at their first two WTA events that they played together winning titles at 2008 Cincinnati and 2009 Moscow. In the second half of 2011, the all-Russian team partnered at Cincinnati and the US Open, advancing to the semifinals at both events.

Aside from their doubles partnership, they have combined to win 29 WTA-level doubles titles (Petrova 19; Kirilenko 10) and both have earned Top 5 doubles rankings during their respective careers.
